Happy Christmas & New Year

Working to Recovery - 2015 Reflections

Hi All,

As we approach Christmas we want to thank all of you for your support in the last year and wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

This last year has been extremely busy for us with new ventures - such as the Recovery Camp, launching the Recovery College and developing new online courses, like the Recovery in Practice course.  Add to this the beginnings of the Mad Economy and our commitment to the new Recovery House being set up by Richmond Wellbeing in Perth, Australia.

We hope you will forgive us for the lack of recent newsletters.

Recovery House - Perth, Australia
Karen and I are now in Perth, Australia and over the next four months we will spend most of our time helping to develop the Recovery House in Western Australia.  For those that know us, this has long been where the heart of Working to Recovery is.  This piece of work will give the opportunity to show that recovery houses can work in an urban environment as well a rural one.

Working to Recovery Online Open Recovery College
Thanks to the hard work of Recovery College Manager, Jim Campbell, all our introductory (Foundation) courses have been accredited for CPD (Continual Professional Development) with the CPD Standards Office (www.cpdstandards.com).  We recognise that most professionals/practitioners require to have regular CPD to remain in practice.  Courses range from 20-35 CPD hours of learning depending on the course.  Every course, guides you through the full process of CPD, so you can reflect on your learning, consider how you will take your learning into practice and receive your CPD Certificate.

Below is a list of our CPD accredited courses.  For a full course details and description please click on 'CLICK HERE' for the relevant course:

2016 UK Recovery Camp
After the success of the last Mental Health Summer Recovery Camp in Scotland, we are repeating the experience near Ivybridge, Devon (Postcode: PL21 0JG) in June 2016.

2016 UK Recovery Camp runs from Thursday 23 June 2016 to Tuesday 28 June.  The last Recovery Camp was a truly memorable experience for all who came.  2016 Recovery Camp is a perfect venue - a working farm, lots of space and different types of accommodation, including camping, pods and bunkhouses.  It's located less than 2 miles from a railway station.

BOOKING IS NOW AVAILABLE - To find out more and book your place - CLICK HERE

The Mad Economy
This is our latest initiative to enable us to establish recovery projects around the world.  Mad Economy is a web based market place that has at its core the idea that collectively we can create a mad economy that benefits an up to now often ignored group of people in our society.  The Mad Economy is not a thing, rather it is made up of a community of interest which in turn is made up of people.

The Mad Economy website will operate in many ways like Amazon and E-Bay, the major difference will be that all profits will be used to fund mental health projects outside the system that are recovery based and not go to shareholders.  The projects will be new and innovative in developing countries (50%) and developed countries (50%).  We are committed to fund 200 projects in our first two years.
