Four Week Course

Preparing for Recovery

It is very common that consumers/service users, families and organisations lack a preparation and readiness to begin recovery.  This includes accepting,  delivering and practicing recovery focused ways of working and being.  This course has been based on the experiences of ourselves (Karen Taylor and Ron Coleman) in our work in establishing recovery houses in Scotland, Italy and Western Australia, in order to equip consumers/service users, families and organisations to prepare for recovery.

Based on our longer Three Month Program, this shorter course strips back the underlying recovery concepts, enabling students to understand the theory behind the techniques, gain the ability and confidence to use these techniques and learn how to develop new ways of working.

The course is structured over four weeks, a module a week.  Each day, students will be presented with a new lesson to undertake.  Each lesson will take about 1 hour to complete.  This will create a daily routine through the four weeks of the course, which will go alongside writing a daily journal required throughout the course.

We have found that this daily routine and momentum over the four weeks, helps embedding the learning and routine needed for recovery.

Through an interactive learning environment, you will be able to learn from others take the course.  Drawing on seminars, reading, exercises, developing a personal plan and writing a journal, the course will provide you all the materials required to prepare for recovery.
